Zubin-The Backbeat of Contraband
Zubin Balsara:Drummer and ace jammer!Used to work for a packaging company, once upon a time, so long ago, that only I remember! Quit for the love of music and initially set up his own music classes at Panchgani. All of that has today culminated in him presiding WCCLF, World Centre for Creative Learning Foundation. This foundation uses drumming as a means of therapy for various diseases such as Parkinson's Syndrome. Zubin, in fact started learning how to play drums way back in school at the age of 11.He was soon to be seen playing at the school skits and plays at Loyola high school, where he studied. Contraband found him in 1990 as a friend of Samuel's. At the outset, Zubin would only play covers, but after a few short stints with Contraband, the jamming bug had bitten.

WCCLF, Zubin's dream is in fact today an NGO using music therapy for helping people open their creativity through the art of music. He also uses music therapy to help addicts, street children and people from all walks of life. Zubin is the only trained drum circle instructor in India today, and he has acquired this training during stints in the US and in Santana land: Mexico!!He used to earlier teach drum jamming and conduct workshops at schools in Panchgani and Sahyadri. Nowadays, he is mostly in Pune and works out of his Baner home to fuel his life's work. In lighter times, Zubin jams with Contraband. In a recent addition to his lot, Zubin and Asha have been blessed with a baby boy in July 2002.
